LTX Magazine: a new magazine dedicated to everything that is fashion, culture and lifestyle in latex

Updated: Jan 4, 2019

Latex and PVC have became integral parts of our life; they are everywhere: from cinema to fashion, from musical concerts to comics, from advertising to TV.

Yes, latex and pvc everywhere!

Latex (from latin latex = liquid and from ancient greek: Λάταξ = rest of wine) is a milky-looking emulsion and gluey consistency, generally white.

This material has today found wide industrial application and continuously growing.

It's used in combination with other materials and for the manufacture of a series of commonly used products, such as sanitary articles (condoms, sterilized gloves), mattresses, toys, coatings, upholstery, tires, gaskets, carpets and so on.

It's also used for the creation of clothing, very sexy clothing, but later also widespread in mass clothing.

This type of material, being in itself already very attractive because of the brightness and adherence, especially in clothes, which is obtained depending on its processing, is widely used in art, cinema, TV series, pop and rock music concerts, and from fifteen years to now also in the world of fashion and advertising.

Latex is fashionable among the stars: starting with Kim Kardashian who sported silver latex leggings during Paris Fashion Week.

Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga wearing latex suits and pants both on stage and in the life of all days.

There are many films where actresses wear latex costumes: from the famous comicscult movie "Watchmen" to the adherent pvc cat suit by Michelle Pfeiffer / Catwoman in "Batman The Returns", from some episodes of the James Bond series to Blade Runner, from Barb Wire to Sin City and many others.

The actress Olivia Wilde has been all wrapped up in a very flashy red latex costume in the movie Burt Wonderstone, the comedy directed by Don Scardino with Jim Carrey and Steve Carell.

Madonna, Lady Gaga, Shania Twain, Rihanna, and Monica Naranjo are just some of the wonderful artists who like to wear marvelous costumes and dresses in latex or pvc during their concerts or for the realization of their music videos.

And How can we forget the extraordinary Moschino Fall / Winter 2018-19 fashion show?

And it's not just a case. Many designers, from Fendi to Alexander mcQueen, from Thierry Mugler to Jean Paul Gaultier have used these materials for their extraordinary creations.

Latex is also used in art as a material to make statues and pictosculptures. For example, the Peruvian artist Walter Huamán has created the statues dedicated to stars and film personalities like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and the Star Wars characters in latex because it's a very flexible material that replicates so well shapes and details. Ideal for covering sensitive surfaces.

These are just some examples of how these materials are no longer only linked and limited to a reductive concept connected to the sexual sphere.
